Flabby groupings slinking muscular world
fit this life, undulating those plump words.

Liner Notes for This Groove: Clearly my will-power was low again this week, because I couldn't resist Magaly's prompt at Imaginary Words with Real Toads: Exquisite Corpse Poetry. Working with random words was fun, but it was trickier than it looks!
I'm starting to feel slightly deprived because in all my randomizing I didn't get the word "muscular". My goodness that words has... um, muscles.
ReplyDeleteI love the excitement of the first line, that has to be a fantastic book--the freaking best--to evoke such glee. So wonderful that all those flabby groupings fit in a way that makes words move.
Also, I might be enjoying this prompt a bit too much.
After I stood back and gazed upon what I had wrought, I had to laugh a little. I mean, usually when I write poetry I know what it is I want it to mean before I write, and with this one I really had to discover a meaning that helps the words hang well together. Some of my favorite bookish loves are imperfect things when looked at with an objective eye (heck a lot of my favorite, movies, TV shows, music, etc. are). But there's a thing in each of them that just touches me in the right spots, that I can't help but respond whole-heartedly to them.
DeleteI am literally swooning over that opening line!❤️ Beautifully done, Rommy!😍😍
ReplyDeleteLuck o' the randomizer LOL. Though as happy as I was with that arrangement, I was stumped for a bit with the rest of what I got.
DeletePerfectly awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry!
Delete"plump" is one of my favourite words to enunciate....followed by "plunge". 2 words that aren't used randomly enough for me :D XXX
ReplyDeleteIt *is* a lot of fun to say. LOL this whole poem is kind of fun to read out loud. It's just so excited with itself.
DeleteOh, I love this! The gods of randomness smiled on you for sure – combining with your own pizazz.
ReplyDeleteI was giggling when the first two words came out, but got progressively more perplexed as it spat the next grouping. LOL, I actually generated enough words for 5 lines, but once I had those three, it was just tough to really get the last set to make anything that suited what I had started, so I did wimp out a little.
DeleteYours reads like you put it together without much effort. I couldn't stop smiling when I read comments at Imaginary Garden. So much fun, it seems. But like Sherry, I felt like I'd end up an Exquisite Corpse myself, if I dared to try...LOL!
ReplyDeleteNow, I'm going to send Try it! Try it! Try it! vibes your way. Hey, we all need to be an Exquisite Corpse every now and again. Then, we re-sprout (in a nurse-log, probably, lol).
DeleteHa! Oh there was effort. Tricksie it was, but yes too much fun not to try. Join us...join us...
DeletePlump words must undulate .... absolutely!!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL, they shall get jiggy with it!
DeleteLove the idea of books generating questions...
ReplyDeleteA really good book often does.
DeleteYou found a nice picture to illustrate your work. Standing back also helped me, to chose a title.
ReplyDelete..
Shelle's an amazing artist. I so love this piece.
DeleteAs for me, I enjoy undulating the plumpest words!
ReplyDeleteHow can anyone resist the urge to do so? :)
Delete“Undulating those plump words”
ReplyDeleteLove that line!
