from the past wriggling through
my multi-muffling and insulating layers
and wonder
what happened
to make me forget
I too could take comfort
I too could take comfort

we lose ourselves so easily, i find, just trying to maintain ourselves, and those closed to us... great reminder rommy
ReplyDeleteIn these weird pandemic times, losing ourselves in the static is way too easy.
DeleteLove the poetic reminder to listen to our inner voice ... listen carefully. Cheers, Rommy.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Helen.
DeleteHey Tommy, Its been a while... This is very wise and also delicious - a powerful and telling combination, like all good poetry... Bravo!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it
DeleteQuiet moments of introspection return our words to us.....
ReplyDeletePerhaps its why most people get nervous about quiet
DeleteI like this very much! Sometimes we need to take our own good advice and good comfort, don't we?
ReplyDeleteIKR? Somehow it always feels easier to give than accept.
DeleteHa, so much easier to give wise advice to others, isn't it, than to apply it to oneself?
ReplyDeleteIndeed! LOL, I'm thankful I've been helpful to others at times, but it can be so tricky to extend it to myself.
DeleteToday can have such a loud voice. It's good when yesterday's words--particularly the really good ones--can make themselves heard over the present storms.
ReplyDeleteLOL, it is a bit like traveling in a time capsule, and being pleasantly surprised that there are things from the past that make the journey to the present extra smoothly. :D
DeleteOverhearing your own voice and words cam be a learning experience.
ReplyDeleteThat is so right! We can't seem to take our own advice at times...
ReplyDeleteVery wise. When we overhear our own words.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs! We need to treat ourselves like a child or beloved pet sometimes!
