I bloom in an instant.
The same way a seed might,
dropped to the ground by a fall breeze,
suckled by snow,
popping up in the spring.
My blaze is steady.
Little can persuade me
to stop dancing and leaping,
consuming and being consumed
by my heart’s delight.
I’m never sure which definition of me is best,
especially if
the goal is to pin me
onto a pie chart
or find my type
in a bowl of alphabet soup.
Rooted or jumping,
I find what is best for me.

You are quite welcome! :)
DeleteIt's important to find and enjoy what is best for us. Far too often, we go with what others define as the best for us.
ReplyDeleteAnd then we wonder why we are unsatisfied
DeleteI like the imagery of "find[ing] my type / in a bowl of alphabet soup."
ReplyDeleteLOL, I thought it worked pretty well in here
Delete"Rooted or jumping,
ReplyDeleteI find what is best for me." I love all art that encourages the authentic self. Bravo!
Right, and the mood can be one thing or another as the situation calls for it
DeleteWonderful to be able to find your rhythm dancing to your delight... and being rooted when you like.
ReplyDeleteI think being limited to one response would be quite tedious
DeleteYour poetry is amazing!

ReplyDeleteMuch love...
People usually describe me as quite animated! LOL
DeleteAbsolutely..why does everything need to be defined and labelled!
ReplyDeleteExactly!
DeleteLovely depictions of spontaneity!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteThat pie chart ain't gonna cut it.
ReplyDeleteFor a board meeting perhaps, but not for describing someone's internal landscape.
DeleteYes, always do what is best for you! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteThat final stanza is a delight, Rommy. The entire poem is magnificent, in tone and imagery, but that last stanza winds the cake. Yum!
ReplyDeleteHee! Thankee!
