Dear daylight blushes
at night’s dark revels. I see
truer by moonlight
where there are no barriers
and the masks are dropped away.

Liner Notes for this Groove: While I’m partial to warmer
weather, I’m someone who finds the beauty in every season. Fall has its way of
thrilling me, especially in October as we get closer to Halloween. It’s nice
when my oddness feels fairly normal as people start to get in the spirit of the
season.
My inner introvert agrees with the sentiment voiced by Alan
Clark, “There are few nicer things than sitting up in bed, drinking strong tea,
and reading”. The colder weather does lend itself to that. This darker time of
the year usually has me becoming more introspective as well. I often find I get
a little more creative as a result. I’m not sure what weird notions will sprout
from my head as I stare into the dark, but I am planning on being quite
ruthless about safeguarding my time to create.

I love the moonlight too and tea in bed with a good book - autumn does bring good things as your poem beautifully conveys
ReplyDeleteSo many good books and tea to pair!
DeleteMeanwhile in Australia the weather is warming up in our spring so we are grinning all over our faces here. The Moon on the other hand is always welcome...especially for lovers!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the worm weather! I am resigning myself to thick sweaters. Thankfully I have plenty.
DeleteI see truer by moon... I love that thought.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kerry!
DeleteI like your poem and that charming illustration you chose!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debra!
DeleteI absolutely love "I see truer by moonlight." ❤️ I have always loved October for some indescribable reason. It's a time of deep contemplation for me as I sort through what the year has offered me. Also, I find that my muse is wilder during this time period! ❤️
ReplyDeleteYay for wild dancing muses
Delete... all about the moonlight, yes.
ReplyDeleteIndeed
DeleteI like the seeing truer in darkness when the masks fall away!
ReplyDeleteAnd fall is the perfect time to do it
DeleteI absolutely adore autumn, Rommy, and Halloween. I also agree with Alan Clark and often spend time in pyjamas reading and drinking tea! I love autumn twilight, which creeps closer and closer at ever earlier times of day, which remind me of childhood, when my grandmother would collect us from school in falling darkness and we would have crumpets and hot chocolate in front of the fire, with the lights on and darkness pressing its nose to window as if it was trying to get in. Which is why I love your poem: daylight blushing at night’s dark revels and masks that drop away.
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds delightful! I appreciate a good cup of hot chocolate by a blazing fire.
DeleteOh, I love this time of the year too. Because first off, October is my birth month. And Autumn and I have come a long way. You probably already know the story as you have read Seasons Defined. :D
ReplyDeleteIt's one of the loveliest celebrations of the seasons I've read.
DeleteSometimes the truth does come out at night. Thanks! K. (Manicddaily)
ReplyDeleteThat's for sure
DeleteMoonlight and mystery is my cup of tea. I love this time of year for color, difference, and everything pumpkin.
ReplyDeleteMy darling youngest is all about the pumpkin too. I'm more a chai gal, but I won't turn down a cup of the spice.
DeleteThe best vision in the dark- that, coupled
ReplyDeletewith the simple pleasure of reading in bed
with a cuppa is pure ecstasy.
One of the most delightful of life's simple pleasures.
DeleteI love the way you express the things that only darkness shows... I do sometimes feel the same, darkness is the only proper way to see the light.
ReplyDeleteIt's worth taking the time to get this view, IMHO.
DeleteDaylight blushes at night's revels... oh those things done in the dark! So mystifying and intriguing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lori
DeleteReally enjoyed this Rommy. There is an unveiled revelation found in moonlight.
DeleteThanks Rob!
