The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree,
except of course when it does.
And who’s to say what will happen
once it’s done falling.
Especially if it has a good view
of the valleys all around it
with hills just perfect for rolling in.

Oh, how I love that! Such fun, picturing that individualistic apple having a wonderful roll in those hills and valleys.
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of adorable when I stop to think about it too
DeleteGo, apple, go!
ReplyDeleteWoot!
DeleteThis is my kind of apple--adventurous, curious, and willing to roll with the falling.
ReplyDeleteI love the tone of this poem. I can hear the apple cackling. Readying herself for more rolling.
And I've always loved the delicious painting you chose!
Thanks Magaly! I can hear the cackles echoing through the hills too.
DeleteMagritte is the perfect choice for your apple cliché, Rommy! I love the thought of an apple rolling around hills and valleys.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a neat painting
DeleteBecomes the apple of someone else's eye then :) Love the image of the apple rolling away!
ReplyDeleteYes indeed
DeleteLike a rolling stone, but delicious. Very.
ReplyDeleteMuch tastier than a stone
DeleteA huge grin on my face ~~ we have an apple tree that doesn’t bear a lot of fruit. One of the apples stuck around till mid December and one day simply plopped to the ground! Love your apple tale.
ReplyDeleteHa! That's a late bloomer!
DeleteNow THAT'S my kind of apple! Clever write. I enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bev
DeleteAs long as it's not the bad apple that spoils the bunch... sounds like rather an adventurous one that's able to roll with it!
ReplyDeleteLOL, I think it's rolling to make sure it doesn't have to be near any bad ones.
DeleteThis is exquisitely drawn, Rommy!💝 I love the tone and ambience of the poem especially the closing image; "with hills just perfect for rolling in." You rocked the prompt!😍😍
ReplyDeleteThanks Sanaa!
DeleteShort, sweet and cleverly done. A brilliant response to the prompt!
ReplyDeleteI think the shortness works here too
DeleteOMG i could just see that apple smiling at all those hills for rolling
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday Rommy
Much💝love
Thanks Gillena
DeleteYes, I love this! My youngest daughter and I had quite an argument when she used that saying on me.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I can imagine, having two teens of my own.
DeleteHaving been a hill roller downer in my boyhood I can imagine the thrill of that apple that probably never thought such an adventure could be achieved.
ReplyDeleteWheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Deleteroll, baby roll!
ReplyDeleteThat's right!
DeleteYou don't stop if you're on a roll? Keep on rolling? It's because they were a high roller or like a rolling stone?
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, please forgive me.
Yours is a fun way to look at falling far from that tree.
LOL, all those work too.
DeleteLove where you took this, and painting was a perfect choice.
ReplyDeleteI was thrilled with how well they worked together.
DeleteI really like this. Good choice of song and painting, too. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteGreat fun; and you certainly got to the core of that apple's adventures.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I see what you did there :D
DeleteWe are not the only ones to enjoy an adventure plus it is always wise to choose a place to grow by yourself.
ReplyDeleteOh definitely
DeleteI love the fun in this, and who's to say that apples don't have fun after freeing themselves from the tie of the tree. Go apple, go!
ReplyDeleteAnna :o]
Plenty of fun to be had in those hills
DeleteDelighted by the optimism and acceptance in this one ..the envisioning the positive possibility of differentness and a fall.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteWhat a relief that we fall where we will and will make the best out of it.
ReplyDeleteFalling happens; we've just got to roll with it.
DeleteWhat a fun apple! It is good to roll where you are plopped.
ReplyDeleteStop, plop, and roll!
DeleteLove this musing--rolling down hills is a delight even my older years!
ReplyDeleteHeck yeah!
DeleteOnce free of the tree, that apple is going places! I love an adverturesome spirit!
ReplyDeleteAs do I
DeleteWill it fall or just keep the view in flight? Will it pick place for a new tree? So many questions. I feel like you've given me a tiny fable that's going to grow in the thinking. :)
ReplyDeleteMischief managed then! :)
DeleteHappy Sunday
ReplyDeleteMuch🕺🏽💃🏽🕺🏽love
To you too
DeleteI adore this viewpoint! It's perfect :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Vivian
DeleteAn adventurous apple---yes!
ReplyDeleteAdventure awaits!
