the sharp delineation
of the narrow path
we are expected to take.
I see
the barrier
that crumbles
from the force of will
of a dandelion
demanding its place in the sun.

Song Choice: Crumbling Down by John Mellencamp
This poem was created for the prompt given at Poetry and Storytellers United's Weekly Scribblings: Pavement.
Oh, I absolutely love this! What a brilliant encapsulation!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosemary!
DeleteThis is absolutely STUNNING, Rommy!😍 Such power in the brevity of your words. You rocked the prompt! Thank you so much for writing to it!💝
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it
DeleteI love this perspective of a pavement, Rommy, and the image of a bright yellow dandelion forcing its way into the sun. No more barriers!
ReplyDeleteHeck yeah!
DeleteAs a child I always thought dandelions were lovely. Only when I had a garden of my own did I see the bully taking over as much garden as possible!
ReplyDeleteLOL, things were simpler when we were kids. But I still don't mind dandelions all that much.
DeleteLife will always find a way to flourish , no matter what!!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank goodness for that!
Delete:) Happy Sunday!
DeleteTo you as well
DeletePower to the Dandelion!
ReplyDeleteHere, here!
DeleteA brilliant analogy. There are times of sorrow in life that leave us feeling as if we're dandelions attempting to push through to the sunlight. Fortunately, the human spirit is resilient, as is the dandelion!!
ReplyDeleteWhere would be be without that resilience and the optimism to believe we could push through?
DeleteIt is pure delight when spying a tiny bit of living floral peeking up from a crack in the pavement .... as is your poem, a pure delight.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks!
DeleteAdmirable, adorable in its persistence...something to strive for.
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed
DeleteIts all about perspective really
ReplyDeleteMuch💖love
Oh absolutely
DeleteOoh, nice! A dandelion having such force!
ReplyDeleteLittle things can be surprising sometimes
DeleteShort and yet filled with such richness. Epic!
ReplyDeleteThanks Vivian
DeleteThe sheer force of will of the dandelion. They thrive when other flowers wither.
ReplyDeleteWe dandelions need our place in the sun
Yes we do
DeleteOh, you spoke right to my spirit with a dandelion. They have always been my symbol of resilience.
ReplyDeleteTheir hardiness makes them a natural symbol of resilience and adaptability too.
DeleteThere are those just like that dandelion, who will force their way through with tough spirit, and find their place in the sun. Unfortunately, there will also be crumbling, and not all of it good.
ReplyDeleteall we can do is hope, and try.
We can hope that what is good will be preserved and also that what needs to fall away does so with as minimal collateral damage as possible, so all can grow freely under the sun.
DeleteEven the "least' of us has inbred power we should all learn to unleash when needed.
ReplyDeleteImagine if we were more aware of that power. All the wonderful things we can do.
Deleteyou and your friend see two differing views
ReplyDeleteand yet your view is more realistic, i hope. great write! it's like the starting lines of a nicely written dramatic tale. great write!
I hope the second view proves itself more correct in the end as well.
DeleteHurrah for dandelion! I love the way the concrete begins to bloom just before the summer sets in.
ReplyDeleteI rather like the phrase "blooming concrete" now. :D
DeleteHappy Sunday Rommy
ReplyDeleteMuch💖love
Hope your Sunday was good too
DeleteThere is a very high possibility that I just roared into my screen, "I see crumbling too!" I love this so much. It's always great to be reminded of the beauty that happens when we refuse to be buried while we are still alive.
ReplyDeleteAnd when we give ourselves permission to reach towards the things that nourish us too.
DeleteExcellent...
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeletePerfectly executed. Love that dandelion.
ReplyDeleteMe too! :)
DeleteYes, dandelions have their place.
