Whole

At the start
understanding comes easy
to my head, and I comprehend things,
dissecting them into their smallest components.
But the heart is another matter.
Things aren’t really real,
not to me,
and without that wholeness
only heart-knowing imparts, I’m lost.
The rush of blood must follow the spark of logic,
igniting the special alchemy
which yields the sought for truth,
in the end.

  1. This is absolutely gorgeous writing Rommy :D Sigh indeed, one is often caught between what the heart and mind wants. Such a wonderful message at the end of your triquain :D

    Lots of love,

  2. Heart and mind, like 2 lone entities attempting to understand one another. This is so beautifully written and the artwork that accompanies the poem is so romantic and dreamy. They play well together. I love everything about this one.

    1. I saw this artwork by Gina some time ago and loved it then. When I finished writing this one, I knew exactly which piece I wanted to use.

  3. I hadn't named it when I blogged, but later called it "Our Safe Place". I think I like "Whole" better. It was a gift for my son and DL so your words fit perfectly. Honoured that you found inspiration from my art :D XXX

    1. Thank you so much. I think the format for the prompt also helped me form my thoughts better. Sometimes a limit helps make a piece stronger.

  5. You must read this one to me aloud! Oh, my goodness, Rommy. There is a wonderful kind of passion glowing out of these lines, out of what the speaker says about relationships with self and others, about how she shows us the blueprint of her growth... I'm in love. ♥

    1. So far, this is my favorite one I've written this month. As I mentioned above, I'm grateful for the format for keeping my thoughts tight with this one, and that bit of restraint gets the point across so elegantly, it surprises me I wrote it!

  8. Hi Rommy! That was so awesome!!! I love the end,
The heart must feel what the mind understands so that
the alchemy between the two of them
yields the truest wisdom...so true and your entire poem flowed so well.
    Great job! Hugs, Rasz
    in the end.

    1. Also balance is a moving target. There's never one point you arrive at and stop working after that.
