She is her own
kind of magic. Banishing
limitations placed
by parochial minds,
she is innocent
darkness. Her hues
are enchanted to delight
her own eyes.
She knows
where her heart is,
there is her power.
So she cherishes all
that matches its beat -
and allows
no interruptions
to its rhythms.

She is indeed a fascinating person.
ReplyDeleteIt is her intelligent innocence, her gentle dark (armed with teeth *if needed*), her own herself(ness) that makes her unstoppable... and she knows! She knows and that's glorious.
ReplyDeleteDelicious dance. Love the rhythm of this.
ReplyDelete"She knows where her heart is", and therein lies the power. Such wisdom!
ReplyDeleteI have found there is magic in every woman I have met, I'm lucky that way, especially when they know where there heart is. What a beautifully engaging poem.
ReplyDeleteI like her joy in being herself. Not so easy these days but seems, she is a powerhouse herself. Yay!!
ReplyDeleteI think you wrote most directly to the Erte angle of the challenge, celebrating the "innocent darkness" whose "hues / are enchanted to delight / her own eyes." I'm in Paris & applauding.
ReplyDeleteLoved this piece! What a great reminder to be our own magic. I think we oft times forget!
ReplyDeleteGood! May this always be true.
